DPF pressure sensor A circuit intermittent/erratic
What it means
The DPF differential pressure sensor measures the pressure difference across the particulate filter through two hoses. The engine computer uses it to estimate how full the filter is. The signal jumps or drops out, usually from a loose connection.
Symptoms
- engine warning light
- DPF regeneration may not run or may run too often
- possibly reduced power (limp mode)
Likely causes, most likely first
| No. | Cause |
|---|---|
| 01 | loose or corroded connector |
| 02 | chafed wiring that shorts or opens with engine movement |
| 03 | failing sensor |
| 04 | water in the sensor hose (freezing in winter) |
What to check, step by step
- 01Watch live data while wiggling the harness and connector.
- 02Inspect wiring where it passes the engine and exhaust.
- 03Check the hoses for trapped water or ice.
- 04Replace the sensor if the signal stays erratic with good wiring.
